The Crystal Maze Live Experience Manchester Review

Last Weekend I went to the Crystal Maze Live Experience in Manchester and I thought that I would  give a review. I know I usually discuss travel on here but with it still being quite difficult to visit other countries, I thought I would give you some ideas of places to go in the UK, especially now that things are starting to open up.

For those who don't know, the Crystal Maze Experience is based on the TV game show 'Crystal Maze'. It involves a team going around 4 different worlds (Aztec, Futuristic, Medieval and Industrial) to play 4 different styles of game (mental, skill, physical or mystery). Each game lasts about 2 minutes and you have to try and win the game to collect the crystal. Failing to get out in time results in a lock in, meaning you lose the crystal. Each crystal equals 5 seconds of time for the final game, in the Crystal Maze, where you have to collect as many gold tokens as possible as they fly around the Maze. These tokens get weighed and then equate to a score, which goes up on a leader board in the Reception.

There is a Crystal Maze experience in Manchester and London, both of which follow the same idea. The Manchester one which I went to is located at the old Granada Studios where they used to film Coronation Street. If you want to take advantage of your day in Manchester, there are plenty of pubs and restaurants nearby, making it the ideal location for a great day out!

The staff at Crystal Maze are the main reason that it was such a great experience for us, as all of them were friendly and helpful. We had 'Anytime Thursday' as our Maze Master. The Maze Master is essentially the person who takes you around the game, helping you to get as many crystals as possible. They are all actors or comedians with eccentric personalities, who will ensure that your Crystal Maze experience is hilarious. The high energy and quick pace of the games made sure that everyone stayed engaged the whole time. The games vary in difficulty, so it is important to select the right person for each challenge to maximise the amount of crystals you can get. Saying this, there is something that everyone will be able to do, making it enjoyable for everyone!

Health and Safety is a key focus for everyone at the moment and Crystal Maze was no exception to this. From the moment you entered the building, masks had to be worn. This was probably the only thing that I didn't like, as it got very hot when you were playing the games, but I understand that this is a necessity and a small price to pay to keep everyone safe. There is only one group in at a time and every room is cleaned as soon as you move onto the next one. There are hand sanitisers scattered everywhere and the Maze Master gives you hand sanitiser after you have completed a game. I really wasn't sure how it would work with all the new safety precautions but nothing felt strange and we all felt completely safe throughout our experience.

Crystal Maze is a great place to go for a safe, thrilling day out. I'll leave the link to the website below so that you can have a look. I promise you won't be disappointed!
